The Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) has condemned the practice of holding strikes and bandas that could hurt the tourism sector which is making a rebound after being crippled by prolonged conflict and political unrest.
Issuing a press statement, NATO has drawn the attention of potential organizers that all the political parties had pledged not to organize bandas considering the country’s economic downturn and Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
“The recent shutdown has only served to remind visitors that there are certain political forces still bent on disrupting the livelihoods of the general public for personal political gains,” said the press release.
