Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari on Monday said that Nepal Tourism Year 2011 should convey a message that our country is safe as a tourism destination.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 11-day street festival organised by the Restaurant and Bar Association in Pokhara, Bhandari said that tourism year can successful only if the remote areas of our country were developed. Bhandari stressed that the government was always committed for tourism development and added that Nepal had an immense possibility of tourism development and preservation.He said that Pokhara carried a great significance in Nepal and other countries so it must be conserved and promoted. According to him, international airways and road management should be given the first priority for development of Pokhara.
Bhandari informed that the tourism development authority would be declared within two weeks. He added that flights from Pokhara to Luckhnow will be added within coming March and 27 places will be connected with airways services.With the slogan "Eat in street, sleep in street and enjoy the street," the festival is being organised from the main gate of the fishtail lake to the Dihikopatan road section. Various food stalls have been kept on the streets. The festival also features cultural dances.
